Wushan

Wushan refers both to a district and to the mountain range in this area. As a district, it is the easternmost part of Chongqing, located about 440 kilometers from the city’s main urban area. Situated at the heart of the Three Gorges Reservoir, Wushan spans both sides of the Wu Gorge along the Yangtze River and borders Badong County in Hubei Province to the east.

Wushan is located at the confluence of the Daning River and the Yangtze River, giving it a strategic position that connects Chongqing to the north and Yichang to the south, while also guarding the waterways of the Three Gorges Reservoir. The terrain in Wushan varies greatly, with an elevation difference of over 2,600 meters, creating a rich and diverse natural landscape.

This unique land has also given rise to the Wushan Small Three Gorges, often referred to as a "natural landscape gallery." The Small Three Gorges, a highlight of the Daning River, the largest tributary of the Yangtze, stretches for 50 kilometers and is made up of three distinct gorges: Longmen Gorge, Bawu Gorge, and Dicui Gorge. This area is not only known for its flowing emerald waters, towering peaks, and mist-shrouded views, but it also offers vibrant wildlife, with the sounds of gibbons, flocks of birds, and mandarin ducks playing in the water. The rugged riverbanks and cascading waterfalls add to the stunning beauty, making this a picturesque and captivating corridor that combines elegance, mystery, danger, and tranquility. It has become one of Wushan's most iconic natural and cultural landmarks.
