The Qu Yuan Temple, located in Zigui County, Yichang City, Hubei Province, was originally built in 820 AD during the Tang Dynasty to honor Qu Yuan, one of China's greatest poets from the Warring States period. The temple was rebuilt in 2010 on Fenghuang Mountain in Zigui County due to the construction of the Three Gorges Dam, and it retains its traditional architectural style and folk characteristics. Visitors are greeted by a stone and wood structure, with a serene color palette of pale blue and dark red, creating an atmosphere of solemnity and reverence.
Situated just 600 meters from the Three Gorges Dam, the Qu Yuan Temple provides an exceptional vantage point for viewing the dam in its entirety. It is an ideal location to capture the magnificent sight of the towering cliffs giving way to the peaceful waters of the reservoir, offering a striking contrast between nature and human engineering.
Both the 3-night and 4-night Yangzi Explorer cruises include an optional visit to the Qu Yuan Temple, allowing passengers the opportunity to experience this cultural landmark and enjoy its stunning views of the Three Gorges Dam.
